One of the world’s leading French-language generalist TV networks, has completely redesigned its main news set as part of a broader visual overhaul. Under the leadership of Philippe Antoine, Director of News, the channel aimed to move away from the traditional globe motif to focus more on faces and landscapes - symbols of a more human, global approach to information.
Designed by Panoramic 7, the new studio now integrates augmented reality and a fully reimagined visual architecture.
The artistic direction was led by Julie Lavigne, with Nicolas Menet designing the opening titles, and the agency 17Mars handling the full graphic identity (logo, lower thirds, and screen animations). Dominated by a vibrant ember orange, with shades of blue for news and purple for culture, the new visual identity reflects TV5MONDE’s dynamic and global spirit.
At the center of this transformation stands SMODE, our real-time compositing and media server platform.
According to Nicolas Renard, TV5MONDE’s Head of productions, this redesign also aimed to enhance the workspace and comfort of both editorial and technical teams, an objective fully achieved thanks to the new system’s flexibility and speed.

"Using SMODE for the new set design allowed us to improve the responsiveness between editorial ideas and the on-air deployment of new graphic scenarios, meeting the demands of live daily broadcasts."

Smode Tech was commissioned to manage all the studio’s displays, including the central totem and augmented reality elements, through a SMODE server integrated directly into the channel’s nodal system.
This deep integration ensures perfect visual consistency and seamless broadcast across all outputs. To support the transition, Erwan Tehel, our Head of Training and Product Specialist led a custom training program for the studio and graphic teams.
Today, journalists, graphic designers, and operators work together in a more flexible, creative, and collaborative workflow, a tangible example of how real-time technology can enhance broadcast production.
“We’re proud to see SMODE at the heart of TV5MONDE’s new studio setup. This collaboration perfectly illustrates how real-time technologies can strengthen editorial creativity while simplifying broadcast production.” Francis Maes, CEO, Smode Tech
