SMODE at the Heart of the Morad Eurotour

Flexible, low-latency real-time visuals for the live show with SMODE

For this concert in Spain, 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 designed the visual setup for Morad’s show, with Marcel Bago overseeing visual content direction, IMAG, and Notch design.

The performance was part of a European tour that began last winter, spanning highly contrasted configurations, from large arenas to more intimate venues, with constantly evolving technical conditions.

To ensure an adaptable workflow and real-time control, 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 chose SMODE as the central real-time compositing engine, enabling rapid adjustments in response to changing setups and last-minute constraints.

SMODE in action: real-time visuals for live performance

For this production, SMODE played a central role in enabling a fully real-time workflow. Visual content was created, composed, and adjusted live, without any need for pre-rendering, an essential advantage when working on tour and across different venues.

The team integrated Notch blocks directly into SMODE, using it as the main environment to refine compositions, manage large-format outputs, and apply additional 2D effects. Thanks to SMODE’s flexible pipeline and support for any resolution or screen configuration, the visuals could be adapted instantly to each venue without compromising creativity or performance.

Low-latency video capture was another key factor. By combining SMODE with Blackmagic capture cards and a compact laptop-based setup, 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 achieved a highly responsive system, perfectly suited for working with a live singer and ensuring precise visual synchronization on stage.

A familiar workflow for creative and technical teams

One of SMODE’s key strengths on this project lies in how familiar its workflow feels for creative teams.

Its compositing logic and pipeline structure are closely aligned with widely used tools such as Cinema 4D and After Effects, enabling a fast learning curve and smooth collaboration between all profiles involved in the show.

This continuity between content creation tools and the real-time environment saves valuable production time while ensuring reliability and performance in live and touring conditions.
