Nearly 30 years ago, La Haine by Mathieu Kassovitz marked a generation and became a classic of French cinema. At the end of 2024, this iconic work was reborn as an immersive musical: La Haine, Nothing has changed so far.
Produced by Live Nation and La Haine Production, this unique stage adaptation blends dance, rap, cinema, and theater, immersing the audience in a Parisian "ride" alongside Hubert, Vinz, and Saïd.
To meet the challenge of translating the cinematic universe onto the stage with full immersion, the production turned to SMODE, a media server and real-time compositing platform developed by Smode Tech.

"Working with the SMODE operators was an extraordinary experience! (ED: Three operators took turns to ensure the tour.)"
Designed by Silent Partners Studio, this ambitious project required real-time synchronization of video content created in Unreal Engine with dynamic stage elements.
SMODE played a crucial role in several aspects of the show:
• Seamless integration of video content with physical stage design.
• Smooth management of NDI streams during rehearsals.
• Precise synchronization with music, lighting, and the rotating stage platform.
• Utilization of a 10-bit pipeline to render rich-colored 3D environments in real-time, free of visual artifacts.
The stage is animated by video projections from five cameras, some of which switch live feeds via SMODE. This technological achievement enables faithful reproduction of iconic film scenes, such as Vinz's mirror monologue.
For projection, two Barco 30K projectors cast images onto a front-stage tulle, while an 18m x 8m LS 3.9 Pro LED screen serves as the stage backdrop. Provided by Alabama Média (Novelty Group), these elements enhance continuity between video content and live performances.
With SMODE at the heart of this production, La Haine, Nothing has changed so far pushes the boundaries of musical theater, offering a groundbreaking and visually stunning immersive experience

"It would have been extremely challenging to achieve this integration without SMODE. Beyond managing video content, SMODE was instrumental in crafting the visual illusion essential to the stage narrative, helping us stay true to the film’s original cinematographic aesthetic. SMODE allowed us to handle and streamline high video bandwidth for perfect synchronization. Beyond SMODE’s crucial technological role, the human support from the Smode Tech team was outstanding. Their responsiveness and assistance were key in overcoming the many challenges of this production."
