MULTILAYER is a three-dimensional video installation that creates a volumetric video with the superposition of five transparent layers: a technique already explored in static image and that for the first time can be seen with moving image in a dialogue between rhythm and space, giving the first step towards a new concept of holographic cinema.

The first piece created specifically for MULTILAYER is “WELCOME”, a monochromatic film midway between semi-abstract graphic animation and fictional narrative. It describes the current situation of the refugees around the world. It is a self-critical reflection on something that disturbs us, given that today we are passive witnesses of the largest migratory flow since the Second World War.

Multilayer works in real time thanks to the SMODE Platform. The installation can be part of live shows offering visual effects in real time, light synchronization and interactivity. Vj’s and DJ’s can be placed between the layers. The size and number of these layers can be customized, offering infinite scenography possibilities.
The powerful Immersive effect of MULTILAYER lies in live viewing, with no need of any additional device to capture the 3D experience. This new dimension generated through a synchronic multilayer projection, poses a challenge for the exploration of a new visual language.
